RULES 2021
1. - DATE AND PLACE OF THE COMPETITION:
It will be between the 22 and 28 of november 2021, in the city of Rengo, Region of Libertador General Bernardo O´Higgins, Chile.
2. - AIMS:
It offers to the filmmakers of Chile and foreigners a space for dissemination, display and exchange of experiences and ideas, promoting audiovisual artistic quality. Provide to the community of Rengo, the region and the country, an area of assessment, reflection and scattering around the cinema.
3.- CREATORS:
The 17° version of the RENGO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL 2021 is organized in association with the Illustrious town hall of Rengo and his Department of Culture, Agrupación PaDanza and Co-Financed by the Fondo de Fomento Audiovisual, Convocatoria 2021, of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage from Chile.
4. - CATEGORIES 2021:
**FILMS MUST BE SPOKEN IN SPANISH OR SUBTITLED IN SPANISH.
4.1.- INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILMS
International competition of feature films. It is focused on experienced filmmakers, audiovisual professionals, young directors and independent filmmakers. Filmmakers must send works with 150 minutes maximum. The films works can be made in cinema format, digital HD or other formats, and it must have a digital copy for the exhibitions.
4.2.- INTERNATIONAL FICTION SHORT FILMS
International competition of short films of the fiction genre. Focused on young filmmakers, film students, graduates of film schools, independent filmmakers and audiovisual professionals who have works with a maximum duration of 30 minutes. The films works can be made in cinema format, digital HD or other formats, and it must have a digital copy for the exhibitions.
.4.3.- INTERNATIONAL ANIMATION FILMS FOR KIDS
International competition of animated short films. Focused on young filmmakers, film students, graduates of film schools, independent filmmakers and audiovisual professionals, who have works with a maximum duration of 30 minutes. The films works can be made in cinema format, digital HD or other formats, and it must have a digital copy for the exhibitions.
* In this category it is essential that the films are spoken in Spanish, or dubbed into Spanish in case of dialogue or texts.
.4.4.- INTERNATIONAL VIDEODANCE
International competition of short films of the videodance genre. Focused on young directors, film students, graduates of film schools, independent filmmakers and professionals in the audiovisual area linked to dance. Works with a maximum duration of 30 minutes will be accepted. The films works can be made in cinema format, digital HD or other formats, and it must have a digital copy for the exhibitions.
4.5.- CHILEAN DOCUMENTARY
National Competition for all those who work in the documentaries area can be made in any format, whether in film, video or other, and with a maximum of 120min. (Short, medium or feature films).
4.6.- CHILEAN FICTION SHORT FILM “CINE JOVEN”
National fiction short film competition, aimed at young students in the audiovisual area, Film Schools, Universities and higher education institutions that teach film or audiovisual communication courses, as well as audiovisual workshops of schools, municipalities, foundations, festivals or others within Chilean territory, with a maximum duration of 20 minutes.
4.7.- CHILEAN REGIONAL FICTION SHORT FILMS
Regional competition of short fiction films of a maximum duration of 30 minutes.
*** Only filmmakers with residence in one of the regions of Chile other than the Metropolitan Region may participate. A minimum of 3 works belonging to the Libertador Bernardo O’Higgins Region will be privileged.
5.- CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION:
5.1. –Those interested in participating in the different categories of national and international competition of this seventeenth version, must fill out the registration form available on the WEB page of the 17th Rengo International Film Festival 2021 http://www.fecir.cl and send it together to all the data that is requested.
5.2. – The works must be sent to the address and within the deadlines established in point 8.1 and 8.2 of these bases.
5.3. – The works in competition may have been carried out from January 2020 to date. Works that have previously participated in the pre-selection or selection stages of this contest will not be accepted.
5.4. – The works received for the competition in the different categories will be preselected by a pre-qualifying jury, who will deliver the official list of participants of the seventeenth Version of the Rengo International Film Festival 2021.
5.5. - FOR THE STAGE OF SELECTION OF THE WORKS
The filmmakers will be able to send their films in two ways:
A) Access the site http://www.festhome.com, register, upload your films and send them to FECIR 2021.
B) By private viewing link (Vimeo, Youtube or others), or also by Wetransfer or Dropbox attached to the registration form at www.fecir.cl
* The works already selected for the official competition, must send their films in high definition format, through a download link for the projection during the contest.
6.- JURY
For the International Fiction Feature Film, International Fiction Short Film, International VideoDance, National Documentary and Regional Production categories. It will be made up of personalities from the audiovisual medium, the arts and national and / or international culture. People directly related to the works in competition will be disqualified from being part of the jury.
For the Young Cinema category, the jury will be made up of a citizen team of at least 10 people.
For the International Children’s Animation category, the jury will be made up of the general public through electronic voting.
* THE JURY’S RULING WILL BE UNAPPEALABLE.
7.- REGISTRATION OF FILMS
7.1. – The works received that do not meet the conditions of participation and screening requirements will not be registered.
7.2. – You can’t participate in this competition if is involvement of a member of the organization of the International Film Festival Rengo in the film work..
7.3. – For cases not covered by these Rules, the interpretation of the case would be taken by the Organising Committee of the 17th Rengo International Film Festival 2021.
7.4. – The registration of a work implies acceptance of these rules, which includes non-commercial exhibition of films selected in activities of the Rengo International Film Festival.
*In addition, the organization reserves the right to generate changes in the dates of the programming contest or other that it deems appropriate. Likewise, according to the contingency for COVID-19. This year the festival will be able to make the private exhibition online through www.fecir.cl or other platforms associated to carry out the 2021 competition.
8.- SHIPPING MATERIAL AND REGISTRATION DATE:
8.1.- The material(s) work(s), with all required information to your shortlist, should arrive no later than August 31, 2021.
8.2. – The payroll with the selection of films that were to become part of the official competition will be published in the official contest, www.fecir.cl and informed via phone, fax or e-mail to the participant will be informed in October 2021.
8.3.- The organization of the Rengo International Film Festival is exempt from any legal responsibility in relation to the use of unauthorized content in the films, as well as licenses, copyrights, exhibition rights and/or all necessary rights related to your exhibition as music, photographs, texts, people, etc. Such matters are the full and exclusive responsibility of the filmmaker who inscribes the work.
9.- THE JURY AWARDS THE FOLLOWING AWARDS:
RENGO comes from the mapudungún word "Renkü", the meaning of which is translated as "Invincible, bravest of the brave".

* FIGURINE RENKÜ TO Best International Animation Film for Kids 2021 more money prize. $400.000 (Four hundred thousand chilean pesos)
INTERNATIONAL VIDEODANCE
* FIGURINE RENKÜ TO Best International VideoDance 2021 more money prize. $300.000 (Three hundred thousand chilean pesos)
CHILEAN DOCUMENTARY
